From bucket brigadier ILikeSocks, who reports the following: "This is from Cronos: The New Dawn, It's good on shitters but annoying as fuck in every other department. it came out right before Silent Hill F, so I didn't play more than like an hour before. I have major gripes with it that are starting to develop. Basically, it boils down to the game has an identity crisis. In my uneducated opinion the game doesn't know what it wants to be. It wants to be both survival horror and action horror and cant commit to one or the other. It presents itself as a Dead Space 4 scifi horror with mashed-together-people monsters. There's multiple guns that can be charged, and it has unique mechanics where if the monsters merge with other monster corpses they mutate into new forms. It gives the impression you should be murderizing every monster you come across, but has the ammo and supply scarcity of survival horror, so you frequently don't have enough supplies to do that.

Which, okay, just play it like Resident Evil 2. Run past all monsters and kneecap them to get by. Only fight bigger monsters. Except that the monster design is so mashed-together its often impossible to tell if I'm actually shooting the knee. At least in RE you kneecap a zombie and its clear, but this is just a mess visually.
And even then the RE2 zombies are slow and shambling. Then there's other monsters in the mix that force you to be quiet, and another that constantly hunts you. But in Cronos I cant tell the mashed together fucks apart. There's so many of them it muddles the fight or flight even more. Should I run from these abominations or fight... well, this dickhead is blasting me with poison from a mile away, so I'm guessing fight, even though I have no fucking ammo... The whole thing is just becoming an exercise in frustration. I turned it off last night and played resident evil instead."

At least you can die repeatedly knowing the shitters were good.
